If you have lost a loved one, friend, or experienced any other traumatic loss, please use these resources:

  • Find a grief counselor in Lorain County by calling our Non-Emergency Navigator at 440-240-7025 during regular business hours.
  • Find grief and bereavement support through the Hospice of the Western Reserve’s Lorain Office at 440-787-2080 or through their Support Groups page.
  • For people who have survived the suicide death of a loved one or friend, utilize the resources below. For someone who has had a traumatic loss by suicide, and are showing signs of suicidal thinking themselves, do not leave them alone, and call the 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Hotline at 1-800-888-6161.

Local Support Groups for People Diagnosed with Mental Illness and Their Families


Family Support Group

Provides support for the parents and caregivers of the mentally ill in order to help them gain a better understanding of mental illness, learn effective communication, recognize psychotic warning signs and regain their own lives.

Provides recovery and support for those diagnosed with mental illness. Learn from others’ experiences, share coping strategies, offer encouragement and hope to others. Led by trained individuals who are in recovery themselves.
