Lorain County Mental Health Navigator | How it Works

You call the Navigator at 440.240.7025, for yourself or your child, and discuss your mental health concerns. The Navigator will connect you with an agency, and can help solve payment, transportation, or language barriers to service. Available in English and Spanish.

This is not an emergency service. In a psychiatric emergency, please call 1.800.888.6161.

For non-emergency referrals, the Navigator is available weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or leave a message any time. 440.240.7025.

  • The Nord Center reports availability of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with no wait. This service is appropriate for adolescents with self-harming behaviors. This service should be specifically requested when calling.
  • The Nord Center reports availability of Anger Management Groups for Adolescents with no wait. This service should be specifically requested when calling.
  • Firelands reports availability of Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) for youth with mental health symptoms that have a significant impact on functioning.
  • OhioGuidestone reports availability of Functional Family Therapy (FFT) for older children and adolescents with significant symptoms of conduct.

Pharmacological Management appointments for children & adolescents:

  • Nord Center reports availability between August 16-17.
  • Firelands reports a 14-day wait.

 

OTHER SERVICE-RELATED INFORMATION:

The Nord Center* provides same-day walk-in appointments FOR ADULTS, Tuesday through Friday. Potential clients should arrive before 9:00 a.m. the day they would like to begin services. Most clients who arrive by 9:00 a.m. will be seen at that time, with a small number needing to wait until 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. for appointments on the same day. Call 440.233.7232.

Firelands* reports same-day appointments. Potential clients interested in a Mental Health Assessment at Firelands should call 440.984.3882 in the morning on the date that they would like to be seen.

Lorain County Residents experiencing a mental health emergency are encouraged to call the Nord Emergency Stabilization Services 24/7 Hotline 1.800.888.6161.

* Indicates that SPANISH SPEAKING PROVIDERS ARE AVAILABLE. (Nord Center offers bilingual psychiatry through the use of an interpreter. Firelands offers bilingual services through a bilingual clinician.)
