Elder Support Training
September 13, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Sometimes, the older adults in our lives need a helping hand.
You can be there for them.
FREE training for anyone who works with older adults or has older adults in their family, or for seniors concerned about their peers.
If your home life, job, or hobbies bring you in contact with older people, you notice when they are having a harder time than usual. But do you know how to help when an older adult seems to be struggling with low mood, changing emotions, or substance abuse?
This Elder Support Training will give you confidence to lend a helping hand when your clients or older family members are struggling to stay mentally well.
When an older adult says they “feel like a burden” or have low moods and changes in behavior, listen and notice. Elder suicide is real. In fact, the highest suicide rate in the U.S. was people 85 years or older, and the second highest rate was for people between 45 and 64 years old. (2014 AFSP)
